My inspiration for this ring comes from Henry Haig’s spectacular Pentecost Window inside Clifton Cathedral. Haig didn’t use traditional, delicate stained glass; he used dalle de verre - massive, heavy chunks of raw, hand-shattered glass set straight into concrete. The magic of these thick slabs is how they act like prisms, trapping the light and flooding the space with an intense, warm glow. The design translates that monumental architectural canvas into an intimate, wearable piece.

I chose gold to frame a mixture of classic gemstone-cut sapphires and irregular-shaped spinel’s, echoing the deep colours and internal fire of Haig’s glass. The contrast between the perfectly uniform facets and the raw, uneven edges mimics the heavy, hand-carved geometry of the cathedral, catching and shifting the light with a rich, sparkling depth as you move.
