Following BA Fine Art studies in Bristol, Gabes joined the Diana Porter team in 2009 whilst simultaneously pursuing Silversmith Jewellery at Wiltshire College. Learning a deep understanding of the gallery, and behind-the-scenes workshop activities, Gabes expanded her expertise by practising Gemmology at London's renowned Gemological Association of Great Britain - This experience provided valuable insights into the characteristics and qualities necessary for handling precious stones and heirloom pieces for design remodelling.

Having worked closely with Diana for many years, Gabes acquired first hand skills in the finishing touches for commissioned jewels, particularly in Di's signature etching style. Today, she continues this personal and technical etch process for specialist silver pieces, drawing on her extensive knowledge of the collections, design spec, wax modifications for casting, diamond setting, and working on the creative development of silver pieces. Beyond the bench at Diana Porter, Gabes explores within her own jewellery the surrounding ritual landscape of which she grew up in.
