Sophie creates pieces that form their own little world. She is drawn to miniature - dolls houses, thimbles, the trays of beads and stones which are to be found in antique shops - and this fascination is what first led her to jewellery-making.
Her works connect with history, and she takes inspiration mainly from patterns and textures. For instance, those which can be found in tiles from the Arts & Crafts era and in the margins and illuminations of Medieval manuscripts. She loves finely detailed designs with a sense of symmetry and balance, and works by hand using traditional jewellery techniques to create textural effects.
