Miki Asai

Miki Asai

Inspired by the intangible and those fleeting, changeable phenomenon and how this portrays the nature of everything in the world, Miki's work centres around the notion that ‘Things are either devolving toward, or evolving from ‘nothingness’’. Her aesthetics and concept are strongly based on her Japanese aesthetic that finds beauty in impermanence, imperfection, transience and ephemerality. She uses Japanese lacquer, mother of pearl shell and paper to construct delicate yet beautiful structures which captivate and intrigue.
