Etching
Diana etches the original pieces by hand using acid etching techniques whereby a resist is painted on to the metal and areas are scratched out to reveal the bare metal. When the design is complete the piece is put in nitric acid and the exposed metal is eaten away. Etched jewellery is finished in a variety of ways – the choice is between gold in the etch, black or left unembellised. The latter is usually preferable on 18ct gold jewellery.

Diana specialises in using words as decoration on different shapes. Commissions are undertaken whereby clients choose their own words – this includes pairs of rings where the words are written across both rings.
